JOB SUMMARYThe Senior Accountant is a critical member of the accounting team, responsible for month-end close, consolidation, financial reporting and analysis, lease accounting, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX controls, and internal policies. This role handles complex technical accounting matters and requires strong technical acumen, analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solution-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and contributes to both operational and strategic initiatives.
Core Duties (Percentage of Time)Month-End Close & Consolidation (40%)
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, intercompany eliminations, and account reconciliations across multiple entities
- Ensure accurate and timely closing procedures
Financial Reporting (25%)
- Prepare financial statements, footnotes, and analysis for the reporting group
- Ensure compliance with disclosure requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
- Partner with FP&A, legal, and operations teams to support business initiatives
- Ensure accounting alignment across functions
Project-Based Work (10%)
- Support ERP system upgrades, business initiative financial analysis, and training
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures
- Drive process improvement initiatives
Audit and Internal Control Support (10%)
- Coordinate with external auditors during interim and annual audits
- Provide schedules, support, and documentation
Technical Accounting Research and Analysis (5%)
- Analyze and interpret complex accounting issues (ASC 842, ASC 360, ASC 810, ASC 606, ASC 470)
- Research new standards and pronouncements
EducationMinimum: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience
- Minimum: 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in high-growth retail or healthcare organizations
- Experience with multi-entity and/or consolidated financial statements
- General ledger management and cost allocations
- Preferred: Experience with SOX-compliance programs and documentation requirements
- Preferred: Experience preparing financial analysis and presenting to internal/external stakeholders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (ASC 842, ASC 810, ASC 360) and financial reporting requirements
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in accounting systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Great Plains, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Nested Formulas, Pivot Tables, Advanced Charting, PowerPivot)
- Experience with accounting software such as Trintech, GTreasury, Workiva, Bi360
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment with competing priorities
Licenses and CertificationsCPA or CPA candidate required
Education: Bachelors Degree
