Job Title: Bartender

Reports to: Restaurant General Manager
Job Summary: The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages to customers, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. This role requires a thorough knowledge of mixology, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
- Take beverage orders from customers and servers.
- Provide recommendations and answer questions about the menu and beverages.
Drink Preparation:
- Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and standards.
- Create new and innovative cocktails to enhance the bar menu.
- Ensure proper portion control and presentation of beverages.
Bar Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including bar tops, sinks, glasses, and equipment.
- Follow all health and safety regulations regarding food and beverage handling.
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
Cash Handling:
- Process transactions accurately using the POS system.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and customer tabs efficiently.
- Ensure accurate cash handling and reconciliation of the cash drawer.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in training new bar staff as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure high-quality service.
Compliance and Safety:
- Verify the identification and age of customers to ensure compliance with legal drinking age requirements.
- Monitor customer behavior and consumption to prevent over-serving and ensure a safe environment.
- Handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism, including dealing with intoxicated patrons.
- Adhere to Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) guidelines and ensure all staff follow these protocols.
- Complete and maintain RBS certification as required by state law.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bartender in a high-volume setting.
- Extensive knowledge of mixology, beverage recipes, and ingredients.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification (if required by state law).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with creating and promoting signature cocktails.
- Familiarity with bar equipment and tools, including POS systems.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
