Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to cross train in Veterinary Receptionist and Veterinary Assisting to join our team at a BRAND NEW Veterinary Clinic. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for pet owners, providing exceptional customer service while managing the front desk operations. This role requires a blend of administrative skills and a passion for animal care, ensuring that both clients and their pets feel welcome and supported. They will also be cross trained in Veterinary Assisting and will help the DVM with preforming technical skills that are necessary for different treatment plans. All skills can be learned on the job. We are seeking individuals that have EXPERIENCE in veterinary field and a position they can grow into. We are looking for someone with passion and longevity for this field. This individual exceeds in their work, doing not just a good job but a great job. The perfect candidate wants to challenge themselves to learn more and more every day. This person wants to not only assist the DVMs but also help educate pet owners on the best way to take care of their pets.

Duties

  • Greet clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism as they arrive at the clinic.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the clinic’s calendar efficiently.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about services offered.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories and vaccination updates.
  • Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail.
  • Assist veterinary staff with administrative tasks as needed, including managing inventory of supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding medication administration and follow-up care instructions.
  • Uphold aseptic techniques in the clinic environment to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Provide support in laboratory procedures when necessary, demonstrating knowledge of veterinary terminology.
  • Assisting in Veterinarian with anesthesia monitoring.
  • Administering vaccines.
  • Assisting Veterinarian with treatment plans.
  • Following up with patients after appointments.
  • Cleaning/sterilizing surgical equipment.
  • Anything you can do legally we will teach you.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology is essential for effective communication within the team.
  • Experience with medication administration is a plus, enhancing the support provided to veterinarians during appointments.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage front desk operations efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients and their pets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
  • A background in veterinary critical care or as a veterinary assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
  • Being able to juggle multiple tasks sufficiently throughout the day.
  • Ability to pivot and stay busy when things change.
  • Knowledge and skills can be taught, being able to effectively communicate and staying positive and being a team player to provide excellence service is our top priority.

Responsibilities

  • Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic
  • Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history
  • Take vital signs and acquire blood samples
  • Assist with surgeries and monitor animals after surgery
  • Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients
  • Keep accurate patient records

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Receptionist is REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of animal care and handling
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment
  • Patience and a love for animals
