Our College of Nursing is looking for Part-Time Clinical Nursing Faculty to teach in our BSN Nursing program across Hawaii, including Maui, Oahu, Lanai, and Kauai.

In this role, you will mentor students in an inpatient clinical environment on Maui, helping them connect classroom learning and simulations to real-world patient care. By bridging this gap, we ensure our students are not only well-prepared for their future roles as healthcare professionals but also confident in delivering high-quality care.

Scheduling Details:

  • The schedule is based on course requirements and clinical specialties for each 8-week session.
  • Typically, clinical instructors work 3-4 consecutive 12-hour shifts over 1-2 weeks each session.
  • Additional dates may not be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

No prior teaching experience is necessary; we encourage nurses with substantial clinical experience and a completed MSN to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical instruction and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
  • Take responsibility for all independent aspects of individual teaching assignments.
  • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
  • Be available to staff at clinical agencies.
  • Assess and provide documented feedback to students regarding their performance based on course objectives.
  • Offer remediation to students as necessary.
  • Stay informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with support from agency personnel.
  • Create and distribute written clinical assignments tailored to students' knowledge, skills, and individual learning needs.
  • Grade and return assignments, quizzes, tests, lab work, clinical documentation, and other written tasks promptly.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
  • May teach didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
  • Keep the course coordinator updated on all student and agency-related issues and concerns.
  • Collaborate with college administration, staff, and faculty to enhance overall college operations and student satisfaction.
  • Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention initiatives, and departmental and campus policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students in areas such as customer service, collaboration, communication, professionalism, and attendance.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills in situations requiring group problem-solving, consensus-building, and negotiation.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An unencumbered professional RN nursing license in Hawaii.
  • An Illinois RN License is required to teach all courses (course assignments will be prioritized for those currently licensed in Illinois).
  • Current BLS certification (from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years of professional experience as a registered nurse within the last five years in the relevant instructional area.

Additional Information:

In accordance with pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment.
