Job Description
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite in Lafayette, IN. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $34/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer 2 will support generator set applications within a cross-functional packaging and configuration engineering team. This role focuses on product configuration, validation, and factory support to ensure systems meet design, manufacturing, and market requirements. The engineer will collaborate with global teams to manage product rules, bill of materials, and pricing structures. This position offers exposure to power generation systems, product lifecycle processes, and engineering validation activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Support product configuration and structuring to meet technical and manufacturing requirements
• Perform virtual design reviews, audits, and validation activities for product accuracy
• Maintain and update bill of materials (BOM), pricing arrangements, and configuration data
• Investigate and resolve product support issues related to models, configurations, and system data
• Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams on product updates and lifecycle changes
• Ensure compliance with design, integration, and application requirements for generator systems
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering field (electrical aptitude is a plus)
• 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience
• Experience with power generation or power distribution systems
• Proficiency with engineering tools such as Creo, Teamcenter, and VisMockup
• Experience with virtual validation, audits, and engineering reviews
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with engineering and manufacturing systems such as SAP, EDS, HVC, or change tracking tools (PACN, PLCN, CTS)
• Knowledge of plant and manufacturing processes
• Experience supporting product lifecycle and pricing configuration processes
• Experience working in cross-functional or global engineering teams
• Experience in heavy equipment or manufacturing environments
