Job Description

Supply Chain Systems Engineer
Full-time, On-Site – McLean, VA
Salary Range: $120,000 – $140,000

CakeBoxx Technologies is growing fast, and we’re building a premier team as we continue to expand our position as a leader in innovative supply chain solutions for the defense, aerospace, energy, and high-tech sectors. We design and build advanced containers, platforms, and engineered transport systems that protect the world’s most sensitive, high-value, mission-critical cargo. We need a Supply Chain Systems Engineer who understands both the engineering and the real-world supply chain needed to bring these products from concept to customer.

This role requires direct, hands-on supply chain experience. You must understand the full path a product takes — planning, sourcing, fabrication, logistics, delivery, and support — and be able to keep a project moving through every stage. As a Supply Chain Systems Engineer, you’ll work with a cross-functional team to develop the product and manage its movement through the entire cycle.

What You’ll Do:
• Support planning activities, including estimating, BOM creation, scheduling, routing, and early technical scoping
• Build and refine 2D/3D models using PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and Windchill
• Evaluate suppliers, qualify vendors, and support procurement with technical requirements
• Manage sourcing: pricing, lead times, POs, BAA/COO compliance, QC documentation, and vendor performance
• Oversee fabrication workflows including steel cutting, welding, machining, coatings, inspections, and NDE
• Support manufacturing fit-ups, dimensional checks, and manufacturability reviews
• Coordinate logistics such as inbound materials, vendor-to-vendor moves, oversized shipments, port handling, and final delivery
• Prepare and support documentation including MTR packs, COC/COO documentation, inspection reports, and handling guides
• Track performance, delivery milestones, supply chain risks, and quality issues across all stages
• Work closely with the Program Management Team to align requirements, risks, and schedules
• Act as the technical bridge between BD, Engineering, suppliers, logistics partners, and customers
• Support warranty cases, vendor rework, and field modifications as required

What You Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, or Materials Engineering
• 5–10+ years of direct supply chain, logistics engineering, manufacturing, or heavy-industry experience
• Proven hands-on experience managing the full supply chain from planning through delivery
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, tolerances, coatings, and production flow
• Proficiency with Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, and Windchill
• Experience evaluating suppliers and managing technical vendor relationships
• Ability to coordinate complex transport, lifts, routing, and handling constraints
• Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
• Ability to work full-time, on-site in McLean, VA
• U.S. citizenship required

Bonus Skills:
• Project management experience or PMP certification
• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, energy, or high-tech supply chain programs
• Ability to translate customer requirements into engineering and supply chain action
