Job DescriptionDescription:

This position reports to the Chief External Affairs & Operations Officer (CEAOO). The Development & Communications Assistant will provide direct administrative and logistical support to enhance the organization's fundraising and communications activities. This is a good opportunity for a candidate who would like to learn about fundraising, events, and communications.


Essential Functions

  • Work closely with the CEAOO and External Affairs Manager to implement The Spring Soiree and Cooking & Conversation
  • Coordinate logistics for our fundraising, cultivation, and other events including managing tickets, registrations, sponsors, venue needs, and the event auction.
  • Manage the Employee Fundraising Committee
  • Manage the department’s databases by updating records, entering data, and running reports
  • Engage volunteers and coordinate volunteer opportunities
  • Manage the organization’s intranet
  • Execute website updates, event promotions, and simple graphic design tasks
  • Execute event mailings and thank you letters
  • Manage departmental invoices
  • Handle additional development and communications duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • One or more years of internship or employment experience demonstrating strong organizational, administrative, or event coordination experience is required
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, website content management systems, e-mail marketing systems, and constituent database software
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing, planning, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong active listening skills and the ability to follow through on directives
  • Strong initiative and follow-through with an enthusiastic, positive attitude
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse professional environment and manage competing priorities
  • Local travel within our region and across our three office locations is required
