- Job Details
- Provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies and/or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system within physician orders.
- Acts as a resource to CRT staff and may be responsible for special clinical projects or assignments.
- Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures including obtaining arterial gases.
- Oversees and troubleshoots respiratory equipment for optimal patient care.
- Initiates respiratory protocols and interventions based on assessments.
- Administers medications safely and evaluates their effects.
- Communicates patient progress to staff, physicians, and other departments.
- Maintains awareness of patient condition and makes appropriate care recommendations.
- Educates patients and families on health promotion, wellness, and self-care techniques.
- Completes documentation according to departmental standards and monitors supplies and equipment.
- Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives and departmental meetings.
- Promotes the profession of Respiratory Care and acts as a resource, consultant, and mentor.
- May float to other departments within scope and may be required to be on-call during scheduled shifts.
