Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This long-term contract position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in cost analysis and manufacturing accounting. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing production costs, and supporting management with actionable insights.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare journal entries and perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Conduct variance analyses to identify cost discrepancies and provide insights for improvement.
• Review and record revenues, commissions, and expenses on a monthly basis.
• Develop comprehensive cost and pricing models, including labor, material, overhead costs, and capacity planning impacts.
• Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production runs to summarize cost impacts and identify trends.
• Communicate production cost updates to management, highlighting areas for potential improvement.
• Update annual price lists based on projected costs for various channels, including school bids and retail.
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and examining account information.
• Manage fixed asset accounting and assist with regulatory filings, audits, and tax submissions.
• Document and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and support financial security.• Proven experience in cost accounting, particularly within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting principles and cost analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in developing cost models and analyzing production data.
• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and regulatory filings.
• Ability to reconcile accounts, including bank accounts and payroll.
• Excellent communication skills to report findings and collaborate with management.
• High level of proficiency with accounting software and tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain financial confidentiality.
