Job DescriptionSummary/Objective
The Underwriter I is responsible for reviewing auto loan applications and rendering an appropriate credit decision.
Essential Functions

•Ensure that applications are underwritten in accordance with company guidelines
•Gathers and reviews all necessary underwriting information to determine the degree of risk involved and the proper premium for acceptable risks. Accepts risks that meet underwriting standards and declines those which do not
•Ability to understand and analyze contracts, titles, income tax data
•Evaluate automobile book values and applicant credit bureau information
•Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
•1 + years of experience in credit underwriting or an Undergraduate College degree preferred
•Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Be able to maintain composure and multitask in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrate an outgoing personality with the ability to build relationships and establish trust among clients
•Must possess the ability to solve problems, digest and apply information, learn new skills, and think critically
•Must possess the ability to utilize Internet browsers and common desktop applications such as email and word processing programs
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., some evenings until 7pm with occasional weekends.
