Casualty Claims Adjuster – Commercial Lines
Location: Urbandale, IA or Lincoln, NE (Hybrid: 4 days in-office / 1 day remote)
Role Overview
This position is responsible for investigating and managing low to medium-level auto and general liability commercial casualty claims. The primary focus is to ensure claims are handled in a prompt and equitable manner by analyzing coverage, liability, and damages; evaluating reserves; and negotiating settlements. This role offers visibility to senior leadership and opportunities for internal mobility within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Examine and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and claim forms to determine coverage.
- Conduct prompt investigations through telephone interviews and correspondence to determine the extent of liability.
- Request and review necessary documentation, including police and fire reports, medical records, and property damage inspections.
- Coordinate with independent adjusting services as needed to support the investigation process.
- Establish accurate claim reserves and re-evaluate exposures throughout the life of the claim.
- Ensure all claim data and file documentation are correctly entered into reporting systems.
- Negotiate the settlement or conclusion of claims.
- Participate in professional development, coaching, and mentoring to enhance technical adjusting skills.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related casualty claims experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional communication skills and a strong customer service orientation.
- Demonstrated skills in problem analysis and resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Prior experience specifically handling commercial lines casualty claims.
