JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist at Polyvinyl Films Inc. will play a key role in managing various functions across the company, ensuring a supportive work environment, and contributing to the growth and development of our employees. This role will be responsible for onboarding new employees, administering employee benefits, handling employee relations, supporting performance evaluations, and ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and company policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Onboarding:
- Assist with the onboarding process for new employees, including completing necessary paperwork, explaining benefits, and conducting orientation sessions on a weekly basis.
- Creating and maintaining an integrated orientation program.
- Ensure smooth transition for new hires, introducing them to the company culture and policies.
- Employee Relations:
- Address employee concerns and grievances, working to resolve conflicts and promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
- Maintain strong, open relationships with employees, contractors, and managers.
- Advise management on employee engagement and retention strategies.
- Leave Management:
- Oversee and administer all aspects of employee leave programs. Including vacation, sick leave, personal leave, applicable federal and state laws, and any other company-specific leave policies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws regarding leave entitlements and assist employees in navigating the leave process.
- Communicate with the employees and managers regarding leave entitlements, procedures, and any necessary documentation requirements.
- Track and monitor employee leave balances, ensuring accurate records are maintained in the HR systems.
- Provide reports on leave trends, usage, and compliance with management as needed.
- Benefits Administration:
- Administrate employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other company perks.
- Provide employees with guidance on benefit options and assist with enrollment processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with benefits providers and vendors.
- Manage benefits compliance and reporting (e.g., ACA HIRD, etc.)
- Assist in annual company open enrollment.
- Review and update benefit offerings to ensure they meet the needs of the workforce.
- Performance Evaluations:
- Assist in the facilitation of performance evaluations by coordinating schedules and ensuring managers complete evaluations on time.
- Help managers provide constructive feedback to employees.
- Assist in setting goals and tracking employee progress throughout the year.
- Training and Development:
- Identify training needs within the company and work with management to create relevant programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops, seminars, and other employee development activities.
- Promote continuous learning and growth to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support compliance audits.
- Maintain compliance calendar with compliance deadlines.
- Timely compliance reporting with associated agencies.
- Stay updated on changes to employment laws and implement necessary adjustments to company policies.
- Problem-Solving:
- Analyze employee related issues, gather necessary information, and provide well-reasoned solutions while considering applicable company policies and employment laws.
- Offer advice and support to employees and management in resolving workplace conflicts and challenges.
- Computer Literacy:
- Use HR software systems (HRIS, Payroll, Benefits Platforms, Etc.) to enter and update employee data, track performance, and manage benefits administration.
- Leverage digital tools to streamline HR processes, improve accuracy, and maintain records.
- Ensure that all employee records are kept up to date and accurate in digital systems.
ESSENTIALS JOB DUTIES:
- Manage the onboarding process, ensuring that all new employees receive the necessary resources, training, and support to succeed in their role.
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and professionally while fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Oversee and administer the company’s benefits programs, ensuring that employees are well informed about their options and assisting with any questions or issues related to their benefits.
- Assist with the performance review process, track progress, and provide support to the managers.
- Work closely with department managers to identify employee training needs and ensure that programs are tailored to meet those needs while supporting organizational growth.
- Ensure all company practices comply with applicable labor laws, including record-keeping, policy development, and employee relations practices.
- Evaluate employee-related situations and work through issues in a fair, consistent, and complying manner, considering both company policies and applicable legal requirements.
- Utilize HR software to update employee records, track benefits, manage payroll data, and ensure HR systems are accurate and up to date.
- Stay up to date on HR best practices.
- Assist with additional HR functions.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of labor laws and Human Resources best practices.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS, Payroll software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with HR Compliance.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience in a consumer goods manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources Generalist role, in a manufacturing environment.
- 2-5 years’ experience with benefits administration, leave management, and employee relations experience.
- Exposure to employment laws.
- ADP experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Exposure to the manufacturing environment, including loud noise and varying temperatures.
