Job Summary: Responsible for the safe and precise use of explosives to blast and harden metal castings used in railway track components. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of explosive materials, blasting techniques, and safety protocols, with experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Job Duties:
- Prepare, load, and detonate explosive charges to blast and harden castings used in trackwork components
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine blasting requirements
- Conduct pre-blast inspections and risk assessments to ensure safety and compliance
- Monitor and control blast effects to achieve desired material hardness and structural integrity
- Maintain detailed records of blasting operations, materials used, and safety checks
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize blasting processes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding explosives handling and usage
- Maintain and inspect blasting equipment and storage facilities
Qualifications:
- Valid Explosives Blaster Certification (state and/or federal as required)
