Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school-based opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff in an educational setting. This role requires providing clear and effective communication access for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school personnel to promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate communication strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Travel between school locations as required to provide interpreting services.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency and certification in American Sign Language interpreting.
  • Experience working with children in educational settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of deaf culture and effective communication methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and travel between sites reliably.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
