Job Title: Events Manager

Reports To: Director of Strategic Corporate Partnerships

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Employment Status: Full-time

Location: Hybrid-work organization. This position will have the ability to work from home with weekly in-office requirements. Must be local to the Des Moines Metro area.

Position Summary:

Healthy Birth Day, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of stillbirth, is seeking a full-time Events Manager to join our team.

The Events Manager will lead Healthy Birth Day’s signature Count the Kicks Changemakers Luncheon and other mission-driven events that engage supporters and grow awareness. This role oversees event planning aspects including but not limited to managing budgets, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers, while developing innovative opportunities for donor and partner engagement. This position thrives in a fast-paced environment, and possesses strong communication and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Healthy Birth Day’s signature Count the Kicks Changemakers event

  • Oversee budgets, vendors, sponsorships, gaming activities, event logistics, and marketing
  • Table captain recruitment and engagement
  • Develop P2P fundraising package, rewards and targets
  • Manage Changemakers Volunteer Committee
  • Raffle and silent auction item collection
  • Work closely with HBD communications team to promote event attendance

Lead in-person and virtual events that engage supporters, increase brand awareness and grow revenue.

  • Events will include but may not be limited to the following:
    • Third Party Fundraisers
    • Community Baby Showers
    • Advocacy events
    • Maternal health / stillbirth symposium
    • Open House at HBD Office
  • Looks for community engagement and networking opportunities that may result in new donors or sponsors.
  • Assist with Every Kick Counts and GameChangers initiatives as needed.

Iowa Volunteer Management

  • Manage Iowa-based volunteer requests and opportunities
  • Oversee Healthy Birth Day VTO Opportunities
    • Engage corporate volunteers throughout the year as a way to advance relationships with corporate sponsors and show the value of our mission.
    • Lead onsite and offsite VTO events such as toolkit packing or event support.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization’s mission and objectives.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or Communications preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of previous experience managing events, projects, or customer service.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products and Google Suite
  • Intermediate level Excel skills and Canva
  • Basic knowledge of Salesforce NonProfit Success Pack
  • Commitment to using and creating Standard Operating Procedures
  • Generally proficient at learning new software programs
  • Ability to be flexible to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work from home and office

Supervisor Responsibilities: None

Location: Clive, IA with weekly in office requirements, but ability to work hybrid after 3 months of employment

Travel: None aside from occasional trips in the Des Moines metro area

Hours: 40 hours per week, salaried
