Job SummaryThe Shake Out Operator is responsible for the initial processing of iron castings by removing sand molds and performing basic cleaning of castings. This is a physically demanding role in a foundry environment, ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and contributing to a team-oriented production process.
Responsibilities
- Break and remove sand molds from castings using hand tools, bars, or air hammers
- Inspect castings for obvious defects and notify supervisor of issues
- Operate shake-out equipment and conveyors safely and efficiently
- Sort and stage castings for further processing
- Clean and maintain the work area and equipment
- Assist other departments as needed, including grinding and finishing
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a foundry or industrial environment is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in hot, dusty, and noisy environments.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English
