Position: Medical Director
Reports to: Owner/Executive Director

Position Philosophy: An advanced practice provider will serve as the Medical Director of the Recuperative Care Facility to oversee individuals providing health services and case management, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws and program-specific regulations. This role involves offering leadership, oversight, and guidance to healthcare staff while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality care that aligns with the scope and mission of the Recuperative Care program.

Requirements:

The Medical Director must hold an active and unrestricted license in the state of Minnesota in one of the following professions:

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), including Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

Physician (MD or DO)

Physician Assistant (PA)

Experience managing and supervising staff across various roles and responsibilities

Strong communication skills and ability to work with many different types of people

Experience in regulatory affairs and compliance, including state and federal healthcare laws, HIPAA, and applicable DHS standards

Demonstrates strong decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities and Duties Include, but are not limited to:


Provide oversight for all health services delivered at the facility to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, program-specific requirements, and evidence-based care standards

Monitor and evaluate the quality of health services provided, addressing any gaps or inconsistencies

Develop and implement clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and effective care

Lead and mentor healthcare staff, fostering collaboration and continuous learning

Conduct program audits twice per year

Meet with regulatory agencies as needed

Track and report client outcomes

Ensure compliance with critical incident reports

Coordinate and perform annual performance reviews on health care staff persons

Consistently demonstrate clinical competence, professionalism and leadership in a residential, co-occurring treatment setting by effectively providing health care guidance and diagnostic services to individuals

Collaborate with co-workers to provide clinical interventions to recipients

Act as a resource for all staff regarding clinical situations

Collaborate with treatment providers, social workers, outside agencies, and other care providers to provide integrated care to recipients and determine appropriateness for admission and discharge

Maintain electronic records of progress notes for each face-to-face meeting with clients

Complete all documentation, reports and charting within the established timelines

Responsible for all clinical services provided by staff to recipients to promote individual choice and involvement in the treatment process and that recipient rights are upheld

To determine the scope of interaction and involvement that is appropriate for volunteers to have with recipients in the program and is responsible to assure that the activities and functions performed by volunteers are directed and monitored appropriately.

Ensure quality assurance including person served outcomes and service outcomes

Provide services to clients, including diagnostic assessments, developing individual care plans and discharge planning

Oversees case coordination

Provides guidance, coaching, and direction to staff persons regarding clinical issues and the delivery of services

Sign off on progress notes for certain staff members
