OverviewWe are seeking a friendly and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team on a temporary basis for approximately two months, with the potential for this role to become a temporary-to-hire opportunity. As the first point of contact for our patients, the Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient experience. This position requires excellent communication and administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle patient interactions with empathy and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check-in patients promptly and courteously, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently
- Manage and schedule patient appointments, including new appointments, follow-up visits, and cancellations, while providing clear instructions to patients
- Answer incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, respond to inquiries, take messages accurately, and direct calls to the appropriate personnel
- Accurately enter and update patient demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Verify insurance coverage and process payments for services rendered, ensuring accuracy and adherence to billing procedures
- Maintain organized patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist medical staff with various administrative tasks, such as preparing charts, faxing documents, and managing supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the front office
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is a plus
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and empathetic demeanor
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency in using office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and discretion
- Customer service-oriented with a friendly, approachable, and helpful attitude towards patients and colleagues
- Ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of a team
Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00AM - 5:00PM)
Compensation: $20.00 - $21.00 Hourly
