Job Description
We are seeking a motivated individual who can lead and continue the grow our steel fabrication and install division. This position requires an experienced manager with a strong background in structural steel fabrication in an industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
- Scheduling and monitoring the fabrication and installation of projects from the planning stages through completion
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, meeting customer deadlines
- Ensure quality of projects meet and exceed customer's satisfaction
- Conducting and maintaining open communication with internal managers, vendors, and customers
- Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
- Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching
- Overseeing all aspects of employee performance within safety, health and quality standards
- Ensure all company's policies are followed, issuing disciplinary action if necessary
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues within the department
- Maintaining steel inventory. Ensure adequate materials and equipment are available for each project
- Organizing regular maintenance on all steel, installation, and cad team's tools and equipment
- Overseeing shop cleanliness
- Providing support to the CAD team and ensuring the CAD department has proper documentation to complete quality concept drawings for the customer
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires a minimum of 10 years verifiable experience specializing in the design and installation of structural steel (i.e.; catwalks, mezzanines, robotic cages etc.)
- Experience in design and building in industrial and manufacturing environments, as well as thorough knowledge of building trades.
- Knowledge and ability in field welding, stainless, aluminum, TIG, MIG, ARC, shearing, and bending
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, and circumference.. Also, the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- The ability to supervise all steel fabricators and installation employees, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in the steel department on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of MIOSHA and OSHA standards and compliance with PPE
- Strong leadership, supervisory skills, organizational skills, and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Current valid divers license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements of Position:
- This position is required to do extensive walking through factory environment production areas.
- Must have the ability to independently lift and carry objects safely that weigh up to 20 lbs. routinely, 50 lbs. frequently, and 80 lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to travel to the jobsites as assigned in state and out of state if necessary
