Location: Berlin, CT
Compensation: $70,000 Base Salary
Reports To: Controller
Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will support the Controller with day-to-day, month-end, and year-end accounting activities. This role requires a high sense of urgency, strong attention to detail, and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will understand how accounting impacts the broader business, including customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, and will take ownership of tasks to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable

Process vendor invoices and payments accurately and on time

Maintain vendor records and files

Review and reconcile expenses against budget

Ensure payments are made within agreed-upon terms and that all available discounts are taken
Accounts Receivable

Prepare and review customer invoices

Record customer payments and issue credit memos as needed

Monitor aging reports and coordinate collection efforts for overdue accounts

Reconcile cash receipts to posted payments
General Accounting & Administration

Reconcile company purchase card activity to submitted receipts monthly

Manage expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings and budget adherence

Process weekly payroll and distribute checks on payday

Assist with month-end close activities

Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting or payment issues

Maintain W-9 and tax exemption certificate records

Process annual 1099 filings and ensure IRS compliance

Support HR-related functions and policy administration as needed

Perform general administrative and filing tasks as required
