Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating numerical control machines or machining centers. You will perform a variety of functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of both metallic and nonmetallic workpieces. Your work will be guided by a mentor or supervisor within your area.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
  • Select and install cutting tools, mount fixtures and workpieces, and load programs as required.
  • Calculate and set machine controls to position the spindle in relation to the workpiece.
  • Select and set cutting tools, cutting depths, speeds, and feeds to produce parts according to drawing requirements.
  • Be proficient in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.
  • Ensure parts meet print and work order standards; maintain daily cleanup.
  • Run jobs in the order set by the scheduler or lead.
  • Count, properly box, and move work orders and parts to the next operation; update work order location in the computer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Lathe, CNC, and machinist operations, including offset and 3-axis G and M codes.
  • Experience with Okuma machines.
  • Minimum of 2 years machining experience.
  • Solid understanding of shop math and precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of CNC machine operation, tool offsetting, machine code, and GD&T.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand technical documentation, process drawings, and engineering specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

Work Environment

The work environment is an aerospace manufacturing facility with two positions available on the first shift. The schedule is from 6 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and 6 am to 2:30 pm every other Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Everett, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
