We are looking for a full-time OR part-time Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our top notch team!


Position would be working at our Spring or Woodlands office.

Monday-Friday


JOB SUMMARY: Occupational therapist assistants (OTA) help patients develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. Occupational therapy assistants are directly involved in providing therapy to patients on and individual or group basis. Once the Occupational Therapist has assessed the client’s functional abilities, including physical, emotional, cognitive and sensory components to evaluate the necessity of skilled occupational therapy intervention, they will develop a plan of care to which will direct the OTA in their care of their patients. Through the modalities of exercise, mobilization, manual therapy, heat, cold, biofeedback, paraffin baths, whirlpools, iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound, occupational therapist assistants follow the plan of care of the supervising Occupational Therapist to implement these treatments and work to restore function, improve mobility, and decrease pain with the goal of re-establishing a patient’s prior functional level.


Occupational Therapist Assistant Duties

  • Under the supervision of the OT, carry out individually designed programs of occupational therapy treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Document the daily treatment of their patients in accordance with SROSM guidelines.
  • Provide educational information about occupational therapy injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote health.
  • Administer manual exercises, massage to help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength/ ROM, and decrease or prevent deformity.
  • Collaborates with patient, caregivers, family members, and other healthcare professionals in planning discharge from rehabilitation services.
  • Other duties as assigned or are necessary to ensure the success of the OT program at SROSM. These may include infection control, supply ordering and Medicare MIPS tracking.

Requirements:

Education

  • Completion of an Occupational therapy assistant program from an accredited university/program.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant Licensure of PT and OT Examiners in the State of Texas.
  • CPR certified.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic science including biology, chemistry, and physics as well as biomechanics, neuroanatomy, and disease manifestations.
  • Excellent customer (patient) service skills with the ability to maintain that demeanor when dealing with difficult, impatient, or upset people.
  • Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and the general public.
