Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This role offers an opportunity to deliver specialized support to an elementary student in an out-of-district setting, focusing on literacy and/or math instruction. Working primarily in-person with some flexibility for virtual sessions, the position is designed to provide 1:1, individualized teaching to address academic needs at approximately a first-grade level.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering targeted literacy or math instruction through brief, frequent sessions (30 minutes each, 45 times per week for literacy; 4 times per week for math)
- Adapting teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of a Grade 4 student requiring intensive support
- Monitoring and documenting student progress to guide instruction
- Collaborating with colleagues through planning and consultation sessions (outside direct instructional time)
Qualifications and preferred experience:
- Active licensure in Special Education or Reading Specialist from Massachusetts or New Hampshire
- Proven experience working with elementary students needing intensive academic intervention
- Preferred training or experience in Orton-Gillingham (OG) and/or Wilson reading programs to support structured literacy instruction
Location:
- Valley Collaborative, Massachusetts (out-of-district placement for a student residing in Derry, NH)
- In-person instruction preferred, with consideration for virtual sessions as needed
