Director of Philanthropy, Strategic Wealth Advisory

A Premier Multi-Family Office (Confidential Client)

Location: Mountain View, CA (Primary) or Austin, TX (Partial Remote Flexibility)

Salary: $185,000 - $240,000

Type: Full-Time, Senior Leadership

Position Overview

Our Firm is a highly respected professional services organization dedicated to providing integrated financial, tax, and advisory solutions to a select group of ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) families-many of whom are successful founders and technology entrepreneurs managing highly complex wealth structures.

We are seeking a seasoned, visionary Director of Philanthropy to serve as the firm's senior-most strategist and subject matter expert for all charitable planning and giving programs. This Director will operate at the intersection of wealth management, tax optimization, and family legacy, ensuring client philanthropy is executed with maximum financial efficiency and societal impact. This is a critical leadership role that reports directly to the Firm's Partners.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

Strategic Philanthropic Consulting

  • Consult directly with UHNW clients and their principals to articulate their charitable vision, define their core values, and formalize a clear, multi-generational giving mission.
  • Design and implement sophisticated giving architectures, including entity structuring (e.g., private foundations, donor-advised funds, charitable trusts), ensuring seamless integration with the client's overall financial and estate plans.
  • Oversee the entire charitable giving lifecycle, from initial strategic planning and developing resource requirements to grant writing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of charitable distributions.

Technical Integration & Oversight

  • Serve as the firm's authority on the tax implications of charitable giving, including wealth transfer strategies, complex asset donations, and compliance requirements, ensuring optimal tax structuring for all client engagements.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal Tax, Financial Reporting, and Risk Management teams to deliver unified and comprehensive client solutions.
  • Act as a key advocate and liaison when working alongside external professionals, including clients' legal counsel, trust and estate attorneys, and investment advisors.

Firm Development & Management

  • Lead the effort to define and implement best practices and methodology standards for the firm's philanthropy practice.
  • Develop, train, and mentor client-facing professionals across the firm to enhance their understanding of philanthropic vehicles and identify opportunities to integrate charitable planning into their advisory relationships.
  • Contribute to the firm's continued growth by assisting in the recruitment and development of future talent within the specialty practice.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

We seek an exceptional professional who combines deep technical acumen with superior client relationship skills.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of specialized experience in philanthropic consulting, private banking, or a family office environment, specifically serving ultra-affluent clientele.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the mechanics of complex charitable vehicles (e.g., Private Foundations, Charitable Lead/Remainder Trusts) and their interaction with estate and tax law.
  • Exceptional ability to manage and sustain long-term relationships with principals and senior client management.
  • Strong collaborative instincts and experience working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (internal and external).
  • Relevant professional designation (e.g., JD, CPA, CFP, or advanced degree in a related field) is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

Our Firm is committed to attracting and retaining top talent, offering a highly competitive compensation package that is commensurate with experience and market dynamics. Benefits include individual and team performance bonuses, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a full suite of health, wellness, and insurance plans.
