JOB SUMMARY:
The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operations of a cold storage facility, managing both refrigerated and frozen sections. This leadership role requires a strong blend of operational expertise, team management, and strategic thinking to ensure timely distribution of goods while maintaining the unique requirements of a cold storage environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operations Management:
- Supervise daily activities of the distribution center, including receiving, picking, loading, and inventory management within a cold storage facility.
- Monitor and ensure accurate execution of processes to meet operational goals, considering the challenges of cold storage.
2. Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and mentor supervisors, managers, and warehouse staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and coaching to address performance issues and ensure professional growth.
3. Performance Analysis:
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate the distribution center's productivity and efficiency in a cold storage context.
- Identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, and develop action plans accordingly.
4. Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with the Logistics team to manage inventory levels, monitor stock movement, and reduce carrying costs, taking into account the challenges of cold storage.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, especially within the unique cold storage environment.
- Promote a safe working environment by enforcing proper safety protocols and conducting regular safety training.
6. Budget Management:
- Collaborate with upper management to develop and manage the distribution center budget, considering the unique requirements of cold storage operations.
- Control costs by optimizing labor, resources, and operational expenses.
7. Cold Storage Expertise:
- Experience with managing a cold storage facility, including both refrigerated and frozen sections.
- Knowledge of operating and maintaining an ammonia system used in cold storage facilities.
8. Process Improvement:
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and customer service within a cold storage context.
- Implement best practices, technology solutions, and automation to drive process improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience of 5 years in distribution center management.
- Strong knowledge of distribution center operations, inventory management, and logistics within a cold storage environment.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
- Analytical mindset with a track record of improving operational processes and KPIs within cold storage operations.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and related software.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and upper management.
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick decisions in a fast-paced, cold storage environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to fostering a safe work environment within cold storage operations.
