Certified Medical Assistant (CWR)
Location: Neptune, 07753 NJ
Duration: 13 weeks contract
Pay Rate: $22/hr
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 40 hours/week (5 x 8-hour shifts)
Position Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides both clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality care delivery. This role involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedures, and office coordination under the supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or professional nurse.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms, including supplies and instruments
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits
- Measure and record vital signs in patient charts
- Perform diagnostic tests such as EKG, PFT, audiometry, and vision screening (after competency validation)
- Conduct lab-related procedures including phlebotomy, urine drug screening (UDS), and breath alcohol testing (BAT) upon approval
- Assist with minor procedures and office-based treatments
- Perform medication reconciliation and support safe medication practices (excluding administration of medications where restricted)
- Provide patient education on health maintenance and disease prevention
Administrative Duties
- Perform patient intake, including medical history documentation
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and admissions
- Maintain and organize patient medical records and reports
- Use electronic medical records (EMR) and office systems efficiently
- Assist with billing and collections processes as needed
- Handle phone and in-person patient inquiries and screening
- Manage inventory and maintain clinical and office equipment
Patient Care & Compliance
- Deliver patient-centered care tailored to diverse populations (age, culture, language, and abilities)
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Follow organizational policies and clinical standards
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 6 hours/day)
- Ability to lift at least 5 lbs and push/pull at least 10 lbs
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- One of the following certifications:
- CMA (NHA, NCCT, AAMA)
- RMA (AMT, NAHP)
- NCMA, AMCA or equivalent
