Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This role supports surgical teams by ensuring a safe, efficient operating room environment in accordance with professional standards. Under the direct supervision of a surgeon, responsibilities include preparing the surgical suite, maintaining sterile technique, handling instruments and supplies, and assisting throughout invasive procedures to maximize patient safety and procedural efficacy.
Key responsibilities:
- Verify and prepare surgical supplies and equipment before procedures
- Scrub, gown, and glove self, surgeon, and assistants under sterile conditions
- Perform instrument and sponge counts with circulator before incision and prior to closure
- Assist in draping the sterile field and expertly pass instruments to the surgeon as needed
- Maintain strict sterile technique throughout surgeries
- Assist with terminal cleaning of the operating room and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Support preparation of the surgical suite for subsequent cases
- Provide training and guidance to new employees and students in the scrub tech role
Qualifications:
- Completion of trade or technical school program with Certificate or Diploma in Surgical Technology
- Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required
- At least one year of previous surgical technology experience preferred
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeons needs
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety and sterile environment protocols
