NWMRMC is seeking a dynamic, visionary Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead all nursing services and drive clinical excellence across our facility. The CNO will play a critical role in shaping the future of nursing practice, ensuring safe and effective patient care, and fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, and operational efficiency.
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a key member of the senior executive team, responsible for leading all nursing operations at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC). The CNO sets the strategic direction and vision for clinical nursing practice, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate care across all patient care units. This position plays a vital leadership role in promoting a culture of accountability, professional development, and operational excellence aligned with CMS, DNV, Mississippi Board of Nursing, and organizational standards.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide executive leadership for all nursing services, ensuring care delivery meets regulatory and accreditation standards, quality benchmarks, and patient satisfaction goals.
- Oversee nursing practice across hospital departments including Med/Surg, ICU, ER, L&D, OR, Telemetry, and ancillary units.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term strategic nursing plans in collaboration with the CEO, Hospital Board of Trustees, and other senior leaders.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing quality metrics, staffing models, FTE usage, productivity targets, patient outcomes, and nursing-sensitive indicators.
- Guide nursing leaders in daily operations, clinical education, audit practices, patient rounding, and performance management.
- Serve as a role model for ethical leadership, customer service, evidence-based practice, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Collaborate with HR and Compliance to ensure consistent adherence to employee conduct, discipline, and training standards, culture of safety and just culture .
- Lead recruitment, retention, and development of qualified nursing professionals, including support for LPN, RN, BSN, and advanced practice career pathways.
- Participate in budgeting, capital planning, and nursing informatics initiatives to improve clinical operations and patient flow.
- Serve as a key resource for Emergency Preparedness, Infection Prevention, and Patient Safety programs.
- Represent nursing at hospital board meetings, medical staff committees, DNV/CMS surveys, and community outreach events.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current Mississippi RN or Compact License in good standing.
- Certification in Nursing Leadership (CENP, NEA-BC, or NE-BC) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including Director or CNO-level roles.
- Experience in a rural hospital or critical access facility preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance (CMS, DNV), hospital operations, and change management.
