Job Description

The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for managing general accounting functions, including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules, ledgers, account and bank reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will assist with monthly closings and account analysis and support the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

This position is located in Omaha, NE.

Requirements

Core Functions & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain and balance accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Provide input into the department’s goal-setting process.
  • Prepare financial statements according to schedule.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
  • Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or relevant role.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
  • Awareness of business trends.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like NetSuite.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Work Schedule

  • In-office with flexibility to work from home with manager approval.
