Summary:

\n

The Buyer is responsible for managing supplier relationships and procurement activities in support of manufacturing operations and new product introductions (NPI). This individual exercises sound judgment, works independently on day-to-day assignments, and collaborates closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Sales, and Suppliers to ensure material availability, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery.

The Buyer serves as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers and is responsible for resolving production delivery issues, material shortages, supplier performance concerns, and purchasing-related account discrepancies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

    \n
  • Working independently; coordinates purchasing activities, reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions.
  • \n

  • Buyers will place, track and expedite purchase orders, negotiate pricing, analyze data and manage vendors to make purchasing decisions in support of NPI schedules.
  • \n

  • Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, production and engineering.
  • \n

  • Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards.
  • \n

  • Obtains materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (i.e., just in time purchases, use of EOQ - economic order quantities).
  • \n

\n

\n

    \n
  • Expedites and rescheduling as necessary to meet production requirements.
  • \n

\n

\n

    \n
  • Ensure material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized.
  • \n

\n

\n

    \n
  • Resolve receiving, customer, and supplier discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • \n

\n

\n

    \n
  • Participates in maximizing the procurement teams' changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services).
  • \n

    \n
  • Develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
  • \n

\n

\n

    \n
  • May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sources.
  • \n

Minimum Qualifications

\n

\n

    \n
  • 5 years working in a Purchasing environment within the CM or similar environment.
  • \n

  • Must possess good working knowledge CM technology
  • \n

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
  • \n

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English well enough to effectively accomplish the job
  • \n

  • Possess above average computer skill knowledge; Microsoft Office (Excel is a must); Previous experience with ERP systems

Pay Range: $65K to $95K yearly, based on experience.
