Job Summary:

The Director of Custom Solutions Development at IntelePeer is a strategic leadership role within the Customer Development organization, responsible for driving the architecture, development, and delivery of custom, AI-powered solutions aligned with IntelePeer’s Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) ecosystem. This role leads a team of developers and solution architects to translate complex customer requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing applications, with a strong emphasis on Python development, RESTful API design, and conversational AI integration.

Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end delivery of customer-specific solutions, including AI-driven workflows, integrations, and custom applications

Provide strategic technical guidance on Python-based application design, API development, and AI/ML-enabled features

Partner with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Implementation teams to define solution scope, roadmap, and delivery models

Drive software development lifecycle best practices—agile methodologies, CI/CD, code quality, and testing automation

Serve as technical escalation point for high-impact customer issues and escalations

Oversee the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reusable APIs to support customer integration requirements

Monitor industry trends and evaluate emerging technologies in AI, automation, and cloud architecture to maintain IntelePeer’s innovation edge

Develop and maintain coding standards, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing frameworks

Build and mentor a high-performing technical team; recruit, coach, and retain top engineering talent

Represent technical leadership in customer-facing meetings, executive reviews, and cross-functional planning sessions

Required Qualifications

10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

Expertise in Python, with deep experience building RESTful APIs and back-end architectures

Experience with AI/ML tools, NLP engines, and integrating conversational AI into production systems

Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps pipelines

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver high-quality results under aggressive timelines

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical ideas into actionable plans for diverse audiences

Proven success in high-growth SaaS environments or enterprise software organizations

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work lifting no more than 10 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and standing.
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment.
  • Vision sufficient to read computer screens, reports, and related department documents.
  • Dexterity to operate computer keyboards and other related office equipment.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent speech communication and hearing.
