Staffing Specialist (Hybrid) – Traverse City, MI

As a Staffing Specialist, you’ll partner closely with leaders across the business and be a key contributor to talent acquisition, onboarding excellence, and workforce development for both Oilgear and Texas Hydraulics (THI).

Work Arrangement (Hybrid Role)

  • Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 2 days per week in-office and up to 3 days per week remote
  • This is a hybrid role. Employees must reside within a normal commuting distance of the Traverse City facility to support regular in-office work
  • Occasional business needs may require full in-office workweeks (e.g., hiring surges, onboarding, training, or project work)
  • Remote work eligibility is based on performance, business needs, and compliance with company policies
  • Up to 10% travel may be required to support other Oilgear locations or attend training

  • Have a quiet, professional environment suitable for confidential conversations and virtual meetings
  • Ensure a professional background (physical or virtual) during video meetings
  • Have reliable high-speed internet and secure access to company systems
  • Remain available and responsive during standard business hours
  • Be able to perform job duties for a full workday without regular, non-work-related interruptions
  • Meet performance, productivity, and availability expectations consistent with in-office employees
  • Comply with all company policies related to data security, confidentiality, and remote work

Primary Focus

  • Full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and talent management
  • Partnering with leaders to align hiring strategies with business goals
  • Supporting a consistent, positive candidate and employee experience
  • Contributing to Oilgear’s culture, engagement, and workforce planning

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment including workforce planning, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer coordination, and onboarding
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop accurate, inclusive, and compelling job descriptions
  • Source candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, workforce agencies, and other channels
  • Design and implement structured interview guides and assessment tools
  • Support recruiting efforts for Texas Hydraulics (THI) while maintaining alignment with Oilgear standards
  • Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a smooth and engaging new hire experience
  • Monitor onboarding feedback through surveys and manager check-ins
  • Support internal mobility, succession planning, and talent development initiatives
  • Track and report recruiting and onboarding metrics for leadership
  • Drive continuous improvement in recruiting, onboarding, and HR processes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
  • Collaborate with HR teammates, Operations, and business leaders
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Average time-to-fill below 45 days
  • ≥90% hiring manager satisfaction
  • 100% onboarding completion within the first 30 days
  • <10% voluntary first-year turnover
  • At least two recruiting or HR process improvements annually
  • ≥4.5/5 candidate experience rating

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with 3–5 years of staffing or recruiting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Associate’s degree with 5 years of relevant staffing or recruitment experience, or
  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of staffing or recruitment experience
  • Solid knowledge of HR best practices, employment regulations, and recruitment procedures
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruiting platforms
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and onboarding technology
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • AIRS Certified Recruiter (ACR) or Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR)
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or engineering-based organizations
  • Background in talent acquisition, workforce planning, or employee development programs
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting process improvement or HR project implementation
  • Proficiency with recruiting analytics and reporting tools
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (Recruitment and Performance modules)

Working Environment & Physical Demands
Office environment includes prolonged sitting, typing, and computer use, frequent use of office equipment, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Industrial or shop environments may be visited occasionally and include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and temperature changes, with appropriate PPE required.
