Job Title: Central Office Installation Technician (Traveling Role)
Location: Continental U.S. (Must reside east of Las Vegas and within 1 hour of a major airport)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Travel Requirement: 100% Travel (Box Truck with Team Lead)
Per Diem & Reimbursements: Provided (Mileage, Travel Time)
About the Role
We are seeking experienced Central Office (CO) Installation Technician to join a dynamic team supporting a top-tier cloud service provider. This is a travel-intensive role involving installation projects across the continental United States. Technicians will travel in a box truck with a team lead, stopping at multiple sites en route to final destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform CO installations in accordance with GR-1275 and NSTD119 standards.
- Install and test optical routing equipment and fiber optic cables.
- Conduct infrastructure installations (equipment racks, cable racks, fiber ducts).
- Perform hardware testing, including power verification and system tests.
- Maintain accurate job documentation and update project management platforms.
- Ensure all work meets customer and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with Installation Supervisors, Project Managers, and Engineering teams.
- Maintain and calibrate assigned tools and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of CO installation experience.
- Proficient in Lace & Stitch techniques.
- Strong understanding of GR-1275 and NSTD119 standards.
- Familiarity with AC/DC power systems and fiber optic testing.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to various environments.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Fiber Testing, Infinera, and Juniper equipment.
- Personal tools (all necessary equipment will be provided).
