We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Concrete Foreman for our Laredo, TX project to lead and manage concrete construction crews on road, bridge, and highway infrastructure projects. Candidate must permanently relocate to the Laredo, TX area.
Job Description:
This role requires a deep understanding of structural concrete work, including forming, placing, and finishing for large-scale transportation projects. Supervise employees’ activities at the project site in accordance with schedules, budgets, plans, and pre-establish policies and procedures as directed by the superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of concrete crews involved in forming, pouring, finishing, and curing concrete for roads, bridges, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and retaining structures.
- Interpret civil plans, structural drawings, and specifications to guide field operations.
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
- Monitor work progress and adjust schedules or crew assignments to meet deadlines and project milestones.
- Manage material deliveries, concrete batching and placement schedules, and equipment needs.
- Work closely with engineers, inspectors, and project management to ensure quality assurance and resolve site issues.
- Train crew members on best practices, equipment use, and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs, daily reports, timecards, and quantity tracking.
- Enforce site safety protocols and lead daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Identify and proactively address challenges such as weather impacts, site conditions, or material issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical certifications in concrete or construction supervision preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in concrete construction, with 2+ years in a supervisory role on road, bridge, or highway projects.
- Extensive knowledge of structural and flatwork concrete practices, form systems (e.g., Symons, EFCO), and DOT specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and construction documents.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and roadway construction safety practices (e.g., traffic control, confined spaces).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
- Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
