Be the expert teams rely on when systems have to work — every time.

Cyclonaire is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to provide advanced electrical, instrumentation, and automation support for our automated process equipment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, leading commissioning efforts, and working directly with customers and field teams.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring Cyclonaire systems are installed, commissioned, and supported at the highest level of quality and performance.

What You’ll Do

As an I&E Technician, you’ll serve as a technical leader and problem-solver across the full lifecycle of our equipment:

  • Provide advanced electrical, instrumentation, and programming support for automated process equipment — in the field, in production, and remotely by phone
  • Act as a technical lead during commissioning projects, supporting startups and system validation
  • Deliver diagnostic assistance and technical direction to customers and service technicians
  • Assist with electrical design and programming for new and existing equipment
  • Execute PLC, HMI, and device-level programming across multiple control platforms
  • Develop and maintain testing procedures, checklists, and commissioning documentation to ensure superior product quality
  • Create high-quality user manuals, training materials, and technical documentation
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and tuning in support of system performance and repairs
  • Develop data collection and analysis tools to measure, validate, and document system performance
  • Prepare comprehensive technical design packages, including panel layouts, line diagrams, component schedules, and cabling documentation

What We’re Looking For

This role requires a strong technical foundation and the confidence to lead troubleshooting efforts in real-world environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong background in industrial automation, electrical systems, and instrumentation
  • Prior experience providing plant-level electrical or electro-mechanical support
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to work independently and serve as a technical lead when required

Preferred Technical Experience:

  • PLC, HMI, and controls programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, or similar platforms)
  • Motor control circuits, VFDs, and industrial networking
  • Strong mechatronic (electro-mechanical) skill set
  • AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical experience
  • Experience with platforms such as Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View / Optix, Siemens, Ewon, or similar

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR
  • Associate degree in a technical field plus at least 5 years of related experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and hands-on experience will be considered

Work Environment & Travel

  • Work performed in manufacturing, industrial, and field environments, both indoors and outdoors
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, air quality, and work at heights may occur
  • Frequent domestic and international travel required

Why Cyclonaire

  • Work on complex, custom automation systems — not cookie-cutter projects
  • Be trusted as a technical authority in the field
  • Strong emphasis on safety, quality, and doing the right thing
  • Opportunity to make a visible impact on customer success and system performance
