Document Control Specialist
Project Overview
The Purple Line is a 16-mile light rail project extending from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County. It will connect directly to Metrorail Red, Green, and Orange Lines, as well as MARC, Amtrak, and local bus services. Owned by the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA), the project is delivered via a public-private partnership with Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP), which is responsible for designing, building, operating, and maintaining the system for 35 years.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Document Control Specialist to support the Purple Line project. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage large volumes of project documentation in a fast-paced environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate records and facilitating efficient communication across project teams, contractors, and agency partners. This full-time position is based in our Riverdale, MD project office.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and prepare submittal registers per project requirements
- Prepare and issue transmittal letters for outgoing documentation
- Upload and manage documents within the designated document management system
- Enter and maintain document metadata accurately in databases and tracking tools
- Retrieve and distribute project documents upon request
- Conduct quality assurance checks on outgoing transmittals, letters, and documents
- Assist with preparing quality review reports and document control metrics
- Support project teams with day-to-day document coordination and communication
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems for project records
- Provide administrative and technical support to the Document Control Manager
- Serve as acting Document Control Manager in their absence
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred
- Prior experience in document control, records management, or administrative support for large-scale construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with document management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
