Job Title: Dispatcher

Department: Department of Public Safety

Reports To: DPS Director

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in emergency communications, criminal justice, or public safety preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in dispatch, emergency communications, or customer service in a public safety setting.

Work Schedule: Varies- PT and FT Available

Position Summary:

The Dispatcher serves as the central communication point for Public Safety operations. This role is responsible for receiving and coordinating calls for service, dispatching personnel, maintaining logs and records, and ensuring timely and accurate communication between departments and external agencies. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in supporting safety, security, and emergency response efforts within the community.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor and operate gate access systems to ensure secure and efficient entry for members, guests, vendors, and contractors.
  • Manage and respond to incoming calls, radio communications, and visitor inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Review and manage surveillance camera footage to support incident documentation and security monitoring.
  • Coordinate access and documentation for vendors, service providers, and deliveries, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with community policies.
  • Assist with guest registration, access control, and enforcement of rental policies.
  • Maintain accurate logs of visitor entries, incidents, and dispatch activity.
  • Communicate effectively with patrol officers, compliance staff, and other departments to relay information and coordinate responses.
  • Monitor emergency channels and dispatch appropriate personnel during incidents or service calls.
  • Support enforcement of ALCA’s rules and regulations through documentation and communication.
  • Coordinate with township officials and external agencies when necessary for access or incident coordination.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with excellent recordkeeping abilities
  • Familiarity with radio and dispatch systems
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures
  • Customer service mindset and professionalism

Certificates and Licenses

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
