Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This full-time, 40-hour per week position is for a Special Education Teacher in a resource classroom setting at a high school located in Aurora, CO. The contract runs from ASAP start through 5/22/2026. The role requires a Professional Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Education license with a Generalist endorsement (5-21). Substitute, temporary, interim, or traveler licenses are not accepted unless the candidate has already applied for and can provide proof of the required license with the correct endorsement.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Current Professional Teacher License endorsed in Special Education Generalist (5-21)
- Extensive knowledge of Specially Designed Instruction and strategies for supporting students on alternative standards
- Deep understanding and practical experience with the IEP process, including collaboration with multidisciplinary IEP team members
- Proven instructional skills tailored to students with special needs in a resource classroom environment
- Strong commitment to fostering student success through effective teaching practices within special education
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction in a resource classroom to meet diverse student needs
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborating closely with other professionals, families, and support staff on the IEP team to ensure effective service delivery
- Using evidence-based instructional practices to support students with disabilities in alignment with state and federal special education regulations
- Maintaining accurate documentation and records related to student progress and compliance requirements
This position is not open to virtual or hybrid work arrangements. Candidates should be prepared in interviews to discuss in detail their teaching experience, instructional methods, and collaboration within special education settings.
