Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Sushi Chef to join our team! You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and dedicate time to expanding our clientele base to establish the restaurant's brand and reputation.
RATE : Rates range from $20/hr plus commission , which can add up to approximately $40-$50++/hr.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting raw fish, preparing sushi rice with proper vinegar balance, and assembling sushi rolls.
- Menu & Quality Control: Designing, preparing, and presenting sushi dishes that meet quality, portion, and aesthetic standards.
- Inventory & Hygiene: Managing stock levels, ordering ingredients, and strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Customer Service: Preparing dishes in front of guests , customizing orders based on preferences, and interacting with customers to enhance their experience.
- Kitchen Management: Training apprentices/helpers, cleaning workstations, and ensuring the sushi station is organized.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knife Skills: High-level mastery of Japanese knives to prepare raw fish.
- Culinary Knowledge: Deep understanding of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
- Experience: Previous experience as a sushi chef or in a similar role.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to food safety, quality, and presentation.
