Summary
Senior Accountant oversees the Bank’s accounting operations, financial reporting, tax and budgeting. The Senior Accountant will assist the CFO the asset liability, audit, and reporting functions of the Bank. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial data, supports strategic decision-making and maintains robust internal controls to safeguard the Bank’s assets.
LOCATION: In Office, Carlyle, IL
PAY - $60,000 - $81,000, depending on experience

Hours - Monday - Friday ~8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Job Duties include, but not limited to:
- Offer assistance to Bank customers and the general public.
- Oversee and prepare accurate and timely financial statements including the balance sheet and income statement along with regulatory reports (Call Report, FRY-9, FRY-6, Summary of Deposits etc.).
- Oversee accounting functions (AR, AP, general ledger).
- Ensures compliance with GAAP, federal and state banking regulations, and tax laws.
- Oversee Fed Funds and Correspondent Bank functions.
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts; monitors variances and provide insights.
- Design and maintain internal control systems, reconciliations etc. to prevent errors and fraud.
- Provide financial analysis for capital investments and strategic decisions.
- Oversee and prepare tax accruals, tax estimates and tax reporting. Provide tax preparers with necessary documents to file tax returns, tax estimates etc.
- Settle investment purchases, sales and maturities. Complete purchase/sales analysis.
- Maintain and oversee the reconciliation of investment records including updating safekeeping and bond accounting reports.
- Manage pledged securities to municipalities and other political units.
- Perform and/or oversee annual municipal reviews.
- Assist CFO with internal and external audit schedules, gathering and preparation of request list and tracking of audit findings.
- Assist CFO with asset liability management.
- Assist in maintaining current policies.
- Oversee and prepare holding company annual report and monthly reports, maintain stockholder records, oversee dividend payments and issuance of 1099s and manage software.
- Maintain safe deposit box accounts and entry.
- Team leadership – guide and mentor accounting team, delegating tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Physical Activity:
The Senior Accountant in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), driving, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, and reaching.

Work Environment:
The work environment for this position is an inside office setting that is mostly clean and comfortable. There is some exposure to outside weather elements and minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The Senior Accountant is free to move about at will.

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in banking
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations and GAAP
- Sound judgement and decision-making abilities
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other computer skills
- Excellent analytical, leadership and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties
- Current Driver’s License and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities
