Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes and parameters for new and existing products.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects and production issues.
  • Manage maintenance, calibration, and programming of industrial laser welding systems.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation, including work instructions and process specifications.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of welded components.
  • Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of laser welded joints.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Expertise in laser welding processes, equipment (fiber, YAG, CO2), and associated metallurgy.
  • Proven experience in developing, optimizing, and validating laser welding parameters and procedures for manufacturing.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for weld defects and equipment malfunctions.
  • Proficiency in weld quality inspection methods (NDT/DT), metrology, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for weld path generation and automation integration.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic programming for automated laser welding systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for fixture design and process path generation.
  • Knowledge of advanced materials science or metallurgy, especially for dissimilar material joining.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) or Six Sigma methodologies for process optimization.
