Responsible for processing member transactions, opening new accounts, and originating consumer loans accurately and confidentially. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all Loan Officer duties, focusing on loan origination and new accounts in line with Orlando Credit Union lending goals.
    • Originate consumer loans by engaging with members, conducting thorough interviews, accurately completing loan applications, evaluating credit reports, preparing well-supported recommendations for approval or denial, and coordinating all aspects of the loan closing process.
    • Open accounts and loans, accurately complete all required documentation, diligently follow up with members to secure necessary paperwork for loan funding, promptly address member inquiries, and resolve any exceptions identified through quality control reviews.
    • Conduct final reviews of lending queues prior to underwriting to minimize pending applications and ensure timely, well-informed decisions in accordance with organizational standards.
    • Actively promote marketing campaigns by informing members about the benefits and providing tailored financial recommendations, which include conducting outbound calls.
    • Use needs-based sales techniques to discuss products that deepen member relationships and offer ancillary products such as Credit Life and Disability, GAP, and Warranty (MBI), explaining their benefits.
    • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of and adherence to Orlando Credit Union policies, product procedures, membership eligibility requirements, legal documentation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to accounts opened and closed, loans approved and funded, ancillary products sold, and all necessary regulatory documentation. This includes, but is not limited to, the completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
    • Ensure branch safety by following established procedures for opening/closing, member verification, nightly security sweeps, alarm testing, and always utilizing dual control.
    • Maintain the Credit Union’s commitment to regulatory compliance by understanding and consistently following all applicable federal and state laws, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements. This includes strict adherence to policies and procedures related to BSA/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and OFAC, covering areas such as processing large currency transactions, handling monetary instruments, conducting wire transfers, verifying member identities, performing OFAC screenings, completing required compliance training, and promptly reporting any suspicious activity to the BSA Officer.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Consistent in-person attendance is an essential function of this position.

Education

  • High school diploma or education degree GED (general education development) required.
  • Required 3 years loan origination experience with another financial institution or be employed by OCU for a minimum of 2 years.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills in person, over the phone, and in writing, including through electronic channels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with individuals and groups at all levels both within and outside the Credit Union.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills with a high level of initiative, responsibility, and accountability, including flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.

Abilities

  • Ability to recognize member financial needs and to effectively cross-sell products and services.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of credit union products and services and in-depth knowledge of loan products.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be bondable and possess an NMLS - Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System designation.

Physical Functions: Physical requirements involve performing general office activities. This role will require you to regularly sit and talk for long durations. The role will also frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, and will occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Environment: Normal climate-controlled office setting with moderate noise.
