Product Owner GIS
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic Product Owner to drive the development and enhancement of our Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions within the iGrid platform. In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, development teams, and business partners to define product vision, prioritize features, and ensure the successful delivery of high-value solutions. Your expertise in Agile methodologies, cloud platforms (AWS), and GIS technologies will be critical in shaping the product roadmap and driving innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility.
- Define and maintain a clear product backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements based on business value and user needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, GIS specialists, and data analysts, to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Drive Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, ensuring efficient and iterative product development.
- Provide clear and actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements to guide development.
- Leverage AWS cloud capabilities to enhance GIS performance, scalability, and security.
- Conduct market research, user interviews, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for product improvement.
- Work closely with electric utility stakeholders (if applicable) to understand industry-specific GIS challenges and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, data governance policies, and best practices in GIS product development.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst role, with a strong track record of delivering successful software products.
- Extensive experience working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and Agile product development methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, including but not limited to AWS Lambda, S3, EC2, and RDS, in a GIS or data-intensive environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with development teams using tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile project management software.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Prior experience in the electric utility industry, particularly in GIS applications for grid management, asset tracking, or outage response.
- Familiarity with GIS technologies such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of data integration, spatial analysis, and geospatial data visualization.
- Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
