The Augustana University Department of Mathematics anticipates hiring an Assistant Professor of Mathematics starting Fall Semester 2026 (8/19/2026). A PhD in Mathematics or Statistics in hand or imminent completion by the appointment start date is required. Candidates with a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture as well as a demonstrated ability to create meaningful working relationships with students, faculty, and leadership with diverse backgrounds and points of view will be given priority consideration. Evidence or interest in employing innovative teaching and active learning techniques is valued by the department. Furthermore, additional consideration will be given to candidates with a background in applied mathematics, especially those with a focus on statistics.

Requirements:

Duties and responsibilities:
- Support the Math Department’s course offerings
- Maintain an active research agenda
- Conduct service to the university
- Advise and support students through a Liberal Art Education
- Maintain a commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
