About Our Organization
The Brooklyn Robot Foundry was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 2011 and has recently adopted a franchise model. We are currently in XXXXX cities and growing every day. Our programs teach circuitry and engineering to children 2-14. Job Position Summary

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION
This is a part-time position for a mobile business.

Generally, our shifts include after school hours, weekend classes, birthday parties, days off from school, week-long school holidays, summer sessions and some evening programming. Teachers have the ability to create monthly shift schedules that align with their availability.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Brooklyn Robot Foundry seeks part-time educators who enjoy working with children to lead robot-building classes.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an enthusiasm for hands-on, STEAM-focused learning and be creative thinkers, problem solvers and strong verbal communicators. An ability to work with a variety of learners and create a welcoming environment that encourages creativity and confidence is essential.

This is a perfect job for an upper-class college or graduate student pursuing a career in early childhood education who seeks in-class experience or someone who is looking for part time work while pursuing another career (we employ a lot of actors, artists and designers). RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitating robot-building classes using The Brooklyn Robot Foundry designs and curriculum (which we will teach to you)

  • Self-driving to different locations within a designated territory to lead programming

  • Setting up and breaking down class materials within the program space

  • Ensuring that classes stay on time

  • Functioning as the onsite point person for teachers, clients and parents

  • Keeping tools organized and stocked

  • Submitting program evaluations at the end of sessions

  • Staying updated on curriculum and teaching methodology

  • Maintaining a strong commitment to The Brooklyn Robot Foundry’s core values; fostering independent thinking and problem solving, encouraging creativity and HAVING FUN.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Positive energy and a sincere love of working with children ages 2-14

  • Excellent classroom management skills and an ability to be flexible, patient and friendly with all types of learners

  • Interest or experience in STEAM-focused, hands-on and inquiry-based learning.

  • Positive and calm under pressure

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Love working with your hands (crafting, baking, tinkering, etc).

  • Extremely reliable

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

  • Must be able to pass a CPR/First Aid certification (we will arrange and pay for this class)

  • A valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle (travel stipend provided) and live a commutable distance to your designated territory.

  • This position requires a background check
