GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for managing and directing the internal and external communications strategies of C.O.P.S.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that support organizational goals.

  • Create and manage graphics and written content for websites, magazine, email campaigns, social media, annual reports, and promotional materials.

  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all communication channels.

  • Draft press releases, talking points, speeches, and executive communications.

  • Manage media relations and serve as a point of contact for media inquiries.

  • Coordinate internal communications to keep staff, survivors, chapters, and partners informed.

  • Track and analyze communication metrics and provide performance reports.

  • Support fundraising, donor stewardship, events, and community outreach through strategic communications.

  • Oversee content calendars and marketing campaigns.

  • Develop and execute merchandise strategies that align with the organization’s brand and mission.

  • Ensure merchandise branding is consistent with organizational standards.

  • Develop promotional campaigns to support merchandise sales.

  • Oversee merchandise budgets, pricing, and profit margins.

  • Assist with coordination of merchandise distribution for conferences, events, donor recognition, and outreach initiatives.


PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

  • Moderate amount of out-of-town travel

  • Attend and assist with assigned Weekends and Camps and other C.O.P.S. events.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

  • Perform other duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Multimedia Specialist – including the tasks related to website management, social media, photography, and videography.

  • Merchandise Specialist – including the tasks related to merchandise design, production, inventory, and fulfillment.

  • Merchandise Assistant – including the tasks related to merchandise production, inventory, and fulfillment.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Business Development preferred. 2-3 years of experience required. 5-7 years of experience preferred.


SKILLS:

  • An understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud programs, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Writing experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred.

  • Problem Solving and Reasoning Ability: Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner and deal with a variety of situations where organization is required. Develop alternative solutions. Deal with a variety of situations where only limited instruction is offered.

  • Language Skills: Persuasive writing and strong verbal communications. Ability to speak effectively in person and on the phone to convey appropriate C.O.P.S image to callers and visitors.

  • Customer Service Skills: Manage difficult or emotional situations. Respond promptly to inquiries and needs of others. Respond to requests for service and assistance. Meet commitments.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Computer Literacy: General knowledge of computers and software is necessary, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and database.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact at the executive level.
