Job Purpose:
Deliver bakery products to wholesale customers by preparing, loading, and unloading the delivery vehicle in a careful and timely manner. Deliveries will be made in a company vehicle (primarily a mini-van type vehicle) for our deliveries. We are looking for an honest and dependable driver who is familiar with the Houston area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load products (pies, cakes, pastries) into delivery van in a space-efficient manner, securing them to reduce any potential damages
- Route daily deliveries efficiently to optimize speed of deliveries
- Ensure a high accuracy of customers' orders by double-checking products when loaded, and again when unloaded
- Learn 30 to 40 different delivery locations, including locations of the building/loading dock/kitchen
- Deliver products and collect signed invoices
- Handle customers when issues arise during the delivery process by passing along issues to the manager
- Complete daily delivery logs
- Keep company vehicles clean
Requirements:
- Early work hours (typically start at 6:00 am)
- Adequate knowledge of Houston's highway system, ability to follow directions or read a map
- A smartphone with GPS/traffic app capabilities
- Fluent in English (Spanish proficiency is a plus)
- Professional appearance and dependability
- Basic knowledge of computers for invoicing
- Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and accurate at counting
- Must be able to bend and lift at least 50 lbs
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
