Position Overview
The Tooling Specialist supports the machine build and manufacturing engineering teams by preparing, assembling, maintaining, and optimizing tooling and fixtures used in the production of high-precision machinery. This role is ideal for someone with a deep mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on complex mechanical systems.
The right candidate will have experience in tool assembly, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement—ensuring tooling reliability, accuracy, and repeatability across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities

Assemble, fit, and adjust tooling components and fixtures for new machine builds.

Support mechanical engineers during tooling design reviews and assist in implementing tooling improvements.

Maintain and repair existing tooling and ensure all components meet dimensional tolerances.

Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues on tooling during setup and production phases.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in build, assembly, and testing to ensure tooling meets performance expectations.

Track tooling usage, wear, and replacement schedules to support lean production efficiency.

Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering documentation.

Participate in process improvements to enhance tooling performance, durability, and safety.
Must-Have Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on tooling experience in a manufacturing or precision machinery environment
Strong mechanical assembly skills – ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, or machine tool components
Proficiency with shop tools (mill, lathe, grinders, etc.) and general fabrication techniques
Ability to work closely with engineers and machine builders to resolve technical challenges
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and safety mindset
Preferred Qualifications
