Cancer Care Northwest is hiring a Pharmacy Director. This position is responsible to oversee the daily operations, strategic development, and clinical excellence of our oncology pharmacy services. Provide expertise on medication related issues to ensure safe and effective drug therapy utilization. Develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulations. Conduct pharmacoeconomic analyses for creation and maintenance of quarterly medication formularies. Member of the executive leadership team responsible for driving the strategic initiatives of the organization. Requires independent decision-making, clinical judgment, and an in-depth knowledge of oncology and therapeutics. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct day-to-day oversight of pharmacy operations
  • Staff Management: hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure best practices and compliance with USP, NIOSH, DEA, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies as it relates to physician-office drug management
  • Participate in executive leadership proceedings, including Policy & Procedure and Quality committees
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals on medication utilization, procurement, and education to promote safe outcomes
  • Develop pharmacist-driven protocols (e.g. carboplatin dosing, dose rounding, etc.)
  • Assume overall responsibility for drug inventory, assuring proper stock levels, pricing, drugs shortages, recalls, etc.
  • Develop, review, and assist with implementation of treatment protocols and regimen builds
  • Serve as the Authorized Representative for medications with required REMS programs
  • Conduct pharmacoeconomic analysis for formulary development and maintenance of clinic drug formularies, based on quarterly price changes and market updates
  • Oversee relations with wholesaler group purchasing organizations and pharmaceutical companies
  • Practice liaison for our medically-integrated dispensing program and assist other pharmacists with product verification of medications dispensed through our specialty pharmacy
  • Clinical pharmacist staff coverage consisting of evaluating chemotherapy and infusion treatment plans for accuracy and appropriateness and verifying medication orders
  • Assist with medication charging and billing procedures or issues in conjunction with business services
  • Responsible for professional development, including meeting all requirements for continuing education, keeping abreast of current professional literature, and maintaining a pharmacist licensure in good standing

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Licensure: Current pharmacist licensure in the State of Washington or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Experience: Minimum of five years' experience in pharmacy practice with at least one year oncology experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 2 years prior supervisory and management experience
  • Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
  • Pharmacy Specialty Board Certification (BCOP or BCPS)
  • Completion of a PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency or equivalent oncology experience
  • Experience with Epic EHR

Salary DOE $162,988 - $236,333
