Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Registered Nurse with expertise in Stepdown and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings is needed for a contract position supporting a 300-bed acute care hospital specializing in comprehensive patient care. This role focuses on delivering exceptional nursing care within the PCU, with responsibilities spanning critical care and med/surg areas.
Location:The position is based in Overland Park, KS, with initial orientation at a nearby campus in Olathe. Overland Park is a thriving city known for its high quality of life, excellent healthcare facilities, and vibrant community amenities.
Schedule:
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday work required either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, plus New Years Eve or New Years Day
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Critical Care or Intensive Care Unit
- Proficient with CRRT, Bipaps, chest tubes, drawing own labs, PICC line management
- Ability to manage codes independently and consult on-call
- Current KS RN or Compact RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required
- Comfortable floating to ICU and various inpatient units including Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level nursing care in a progressive care setting
- Manage complex patient care including critical interventions
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC electronic medical records system
- Attend comprehensive orientation and ongoing training sessions
Additional Information:
- Initial orientation includes two days at the main campus, followed by Olathe site training and virtual EPIC training
- Facility is nicotine-free
- Bi-weekly pay period; one shift cancellation per two-week period allowed with notice
- New graduates are not eligible for this role
